The relief – no treatment required after my visit to the dentist yesterday – he did keep me waiting half an hour and any treatment needed was to my neck later yesterday – I’d got myself that tense waiting I’d knotted my neck up – what am I like!

Met my friend Richard afterwards and his friend Tim, for a coffee, always a pleasant experience. :)

Whilst Richard was fetching the coffees his friend Tim ask me a question – which sounded like “How’s your arse?” – Now I don’t know Tim very well and he’s quite a shy bloke – so I was a little surprised by the question to say the least! – Turns out he said “How’s your art?” I answered both questions and we moved on to more pressing issues such as watching last weeks episode of “Outnumbered”

Later on yesterday my beautiful fella bought me an even more beautiful bright red jacket for Christmas – oooohhhhhh it’s loverly!

Then dinner at Felicini’s an Italian in West Bridgord – compote of duck with red cabbage, dough balls with garlic butter and rocket salad – very nice – well until last night when I went to bed and couldn’t sleep – too rich??????

Anyway, a bit a cycling, a bit of food shopping – then back to me paintin! hoorah!

Well, yet again I’m off to the dentist – no toffee this time just an aching tooth. Been putting it off for ages so I can paint instead but yesterday I made me 3 appointments that have been hanging over my head

Dentist

Eye specialist - Ocular Hypertension test!

Hairdressers – well this one wasn’t hanging over my haed but needed to change the date of it.

I feel better for making the appointments but there will be 3 very different outcomes:

Dentist – pain, money and nervous tension – I hate the dentist!

Ocular whatsit – They put drops in your eyes and you can’t see properly for hours – your pupils get the size of apples!

Hairdressers – me roots will be done – so no problem there

Unfortunately at least 2 of the 3 appointments will interfere with me painting time – I hate that

Never mind, dentist today so we’ll start there and see what happens!

Today I started selling my 2009 calendar - 3 people already – not bad for a first.

The calendar has 13 paintings (inc front cover) and the painting were chosen by my mother from the acrylic paintings I have produced during 2008.

Hopefully I will produce a calendar once a year – that’s if I create 13 pieces of art I am happy with – one a month + one – should be achievable.

Anyway, please feel free to purchase one!

Well I’ve tried painting rocks 3 times now (plus the ones I have thrown away!) Not sure I’m any closer to a signature style but I will keep at it. I’m at the slap on stage now so nothing really looks any good – I’m looking for something at the end of this or there will be heads rolling – mine probably!

Sold a painting print today for £100 – well chuffed with that. The painting was Cas Goldoni – one of my favs featured in an earlier entry.

No painting now for 2 day – probably a good idea – slapping paint on can get messy and expensive (the amount of paint you use is incredible! – not like watercolour – that stuff last for-ev-er)

Anyway, when I’m happy with a painting I will post it – could be some time then – hee hee

Artistic style

Read a really interesting article on becoming a recognised artists yesterday. It was all about working on one particular subject until you have painted it at least 12 times. Being really specific about the subject is one key i.e. dogs, specific breed - specific dog of specific breed – now paint or draw it 12 times. Until you reach the point when someone looks at  a painting and says – “Thats a Carole Russell painting” “I recognise her style”

So that’s me sorted for the forseeable – I’ll post some of them on here when I’ve decided on a couple of subjects to get stuck in to

I am pleased to say that even though we thought there would be an almighty problem getting my new daylight lamp delivered – it arrived yesterday and is now sitting in  our living room.

You have to warm the bulb up for a couple of hours and it really did seem like the front room was back to summer all over again – how nice!

Looks like we will be smiling our way through winter after all

Managed to get a decent shot of my completed capri Town acrylic painting so here it is for anyone to comment:

Oh what a dark day it is – drizzle, cloud, dull and damp. This is not good for the painter – huddled against the only source of light coming through the window does nothing for expression – you can’t swing your arms around slapping paint on when you view is so restricted.

The good news is I’ve ordered a daylight lamp, so hopefully it will cast some much needed light on the subject – well any subject really! There is a slight problem – it may not arrive! The order  (carried out on the fab internet) shows a digit wrong on the address, so I spent two days trying to contact the people at the address shown, only to find the house empty both days – so now I sit waiting to hear a UPS van. Not sure how you tell its UPS but you know what I mean. I want to dash out and say “Hey – thats my lamp”  – can they call that Hijacking – won’t be able to update my blog from Jail – I don’t think.

Can’t even go outside the front door at the moment – washed my hair and boy do I look a dog until I’ve put the straightening irons thro it – the question is – “Is it worth total street humiliation to get my daylight lamp?” I’m thinking about it. Meantime I’m off to start straightening. What happens if they come half way through? – well then the decision is made for me isn’t it – art and painting must always come first!
